SourceCorp "Pay It Forward 2009"
Pay It Forward embraces the idea that instead of paying it back, we pay it forward. As an entirely volunteer service team of SourceCorp, we realize that life is filled with unexpected detours - our purpose is to serve our clients and team members - in their communities and ours. Whether that means lending a hand building a home for the homeless, providing food for the hungry, or giving Christmas toys to orphaned children, we exist to Pay It Forward.
2009 - Five for Life
Employees participate in a voluntary program called “Five for Life”. The program is based on the idea that by giving just five dollars from each paycheck, we can help make a big difference in our company “family”, as well as our surrounding community. Those who join in are free to choose any amount they wish to give, and the company matches contributions each year, dollar-for-dollar, up to a maximum of $7,500. At the end of the year, the funds are distributed to 4 charities that were picked from a list of worthy causes, as well as a fund that is used to help employees in times of need or to help other miscellaneous causes – for example, people or areas that have experienced a sudden disaster. The five beneficiaries are:
- Cook’s Children’s Hospital
- Habitat for Humanity
- Meals on Wheels
- Union Gospel Mission
- SourceCorp Pay It Forward Fund
In 2009, the “Five for Life” program raised enough money to give a $4,000 check to each of our 4 charities - Cook’s Children’s Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, and Union Gospel Mission. The PIF fund was also able to help various employees and contribute to other needs throughout the year.

2009 – Year in Review
- Meals on Wheels – volunteers continued to deliver meals each week throughout the year.
- North Texas Food Bank – in April enough money and food was raised to provide over 750 meals for people in need.
- Wildfires in Sunset, Texas – also in April, goods and supplies were given to help the families who lost their homes in the wildfires in Sunset, Texas. This was a great opportunity to use some of the Pay It Forward fund money to help out.
- Union Gospel Mission – volunteers helped serve meals on July 15th and August 26th.
- Cook’s Children Hospital – employees provided craft days at the hospital on July 8th and September 23rd.
- School Supplies Drive – in August, we gathered 2 full boxes of supplies for children in need of items for school.
- American Heart Association – we raised money toward the walk in September and through a Halloween Costume Contest in October, even though weather prevented us from participating in the walk itself.
- Toys for Tots – at the company Christmas party, employees were encouraged to bring toys for our drive. Enough were gathered to fill 2 pickup truck loads that were taken to the distribution center.
- Five $100 bills to Pay It Forward were given to employees whose names were selected in a drawing at the Christmas party. They were each told to use the money to “pay it forward” in some way and send us the stories. The stories included things such as: Help for Homeless Dogs and Cats, Passing along $20 bills that could be used if needed or paid forward again, Helping a family who lost their wife/mother when she was hit in her car by a drunk driver, Buying 3 instruments for a school music program so students could practice at home, and Giving to several causes – toys for Haiti orphans, clean water wells in Haiti, local toy drive, and a church group that provides short-term help to parishioners in need.
